On any given week across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, you will find a community of relaxed and inspired women from the design, construction and related industries having powerful discussions filled with laughter, good food and wine. Set amongst beautifully designed spaces which have often been delivered by the members themselves, ‘Women in Design and Construction’ events have a certain je ne sais quoi and warmth that can be attributed to its community who come together to celebrate each other and their successes.
Women in Design and Construction (WIDAC) is the baby of founder and national directors Althea Papinczak and Erin Oxley, a dynamic duo who’s casual and relaxed approach set the tone for the WIDAC events and its community. The organisation was founded in Brisbane in late 2016 being borne out of the desire to create something that felt natural and authentic – starting out as a night in a bar with 20 friends from the industry. Since its inception, WIDAC has taken on a life of its own and developed into what the girls refer to as an ‘accidental business’ that is grounded by its original values and ideals. It appears the essence of WIDAC is contagious, as in less than 2 and a half years WIDAC has grown to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with an over 6000 strong community across the Eastern seaboard. Erin and Althea will share the story of WIDAC, what they’ve learnt since starting up their “accidental business” along with sharing the challenges they have faced running a business alongside working full time, all whilst trying to maintain some balance in their lives

This method whilst being a convenient way to manage build costs and accommodation expenses can leave the renovator with a disjointed and haphazard project upon completion. They will discuss ways in which you can ensure your project has a clear design vision or ‘Master Plan’ to guarantee you brilliant results no matter how you roll out the construction. They will also be answering any questions you might have about designing your master plan to keep your renovation and decoration on track.
